Lance Corporal J W Mashiter is standing third from left. Joseph
Mashiter, from Caton, went to France with the 1st/5th Battalion in
February 1915, was wounded on 4th May 1915 and after time at Lees Court
Military Hospital at Faversham in Kent joined the 2nd/5th, before
returning to France, completing his service as a Sergeant. He served
in the Home Guard from June 1940 to December 1944.
