Commanding Officer's Sign

2nd/5th Battalion, King's Own Royal Lancaster Regiment, 1914-1918


Painted wooden sign of the Commanding Officer, 2nd/5th Battalion, The King's Own Royal Lancaster Regiment.  The battalion was raised as a second line battalion to the 5th Territorial Battalion in late 1914.  It was re-designated 2nd/5th Battalion in 1915.  The Battalion served in France and Flanders from 1917 until the end of the war.  A similar sign for the Quarter Masters stores can be seen in a photograph of the QM's Staff as shown below.
