Collections - Badges and Insignia Alloy/Aluminium Identity Discs, circa 1906-First World War Metal identity discs were introduced for British soldiers from 1906. The disc would include details such as the name, number, regiment and religion of the soldier. They survived into the First World War even after their official replacement by the fibre discs in 1914.
