Soldiers of the Regiment

Lieutenant Alfred Hugh Brunwin, MC

Lieutenant Alfred Hugh Brunwin, MC, 8th Battalion, King’s Own Royal Lancaster Regiment.
Listed in Essex Weekly News 28 Dec 1917 as wounded and from Great Bardfield in Essex.
Military Cross London Gazette 26 Jan 1917 & 6 Apr 1918 8 KO Citation
For conspicuous gallantry and devotion to duty when temporarily in charge of his company during an attack. When checked by two strong points, he was himself mainly instrumental in the capture of them and their garrisons. Seeing that the supporting battalions were too far behind, he led his own company forward and largely contributed to the capture of the final objectives. Finally he consolidated his former objective under fire until buried and rendered unconscious.
