The Colours of the Regiment

Regular Battalions

Colours 1878

2nd Battalion, 4th Foot. Presented by HM Queen Victoria at Windsor on 6th December 1878. These were the last Colours to be carried on active service during the Zulu War (1879). Laid up in the Regimental Chapel on 4th August 1926.

"The War in South Africa (1879) Her Majesty presenting New Colours to the Fourth (King’s Own Regiment) at Windsor Castle, under orders for the Cape".
Her Majesty Queen Victoria presented a new set of Colours to the
2nd Battalion, 4th Foot at Windsor on 6th December 1878.  These were the last Colours of the Regiment to be carried on active service, in the Zulu War of 1879.
