Soldiers of the Regiment Lieutenant Colonel Harold Lindsay MM
Harold Lindsay was born on 17th April 1890. He enlisted into the
King’s Own in around 1905/06 with the number 8527. He served in the
ranks King’s Own 11 years and 320 days. Warrant Officer 11 years and 33
days. He was commissioned Lieutenant and Quartermaster from 30th
September 1927. Served with 1st Battalion at Aldershot, Haifa, Cairo,
Wellington and Madras. He transferred to the Regimental Depot in
Lancaster from 1939. He was posted to 6th Battalion on its formation
14th February 1940 and proceeded with it to France 3rd April 1940.
Evacuated from Dunkirk 1st June 1940. He remained with the battalion and
saw no further active service. Captain 30th September 1935 and Major
30th September 1939. MBE 1st January 1944. Brevet Lieutenant Colonel 1st
July 1944. To retired pay 1st October 1945. Died 19th March 1963

appointment to the Adjutancy.
