Sergeant John Preston
The museum's collection contains a number of items relating to Colour
Sergeant John Preston who served with the Volunteers and later 4th
Battalion of the King's Own Royal Lancaster Regiment. He served
from 1897 to 1917.

Leeds, in either February or March 1917. Colour Sergeant John T
Preston of the 1st/4th Battalion, King's Own, is seated second from the
left. Colour Sergeant Preston was discharged later in 1917, his
military service had began in around 1897 with the 1st Volunteer Battalion
of the King's Own Royal Lancaster Regiment.

states the caption. Written on the rear of the original is
"the 48
should be 24 though, it's a mistake". Note the rifles "piled"
around the central support of the tent.

is dated 28th September, 1914 and posted from Twyford, Berkshire.
Colour Sergeant Preston enlisted in the 1st Volunteer Battalion of the
King's Own Royal Lancaster Regiment in around 1897.
