“I certify that:- Captain A Hunter 1st Bn KO Ryl Lancaster Regt. is a Very Good Rider.”

Hand-written letter/certificate of recommendation by Lieutenant Colonel Herbert Borrett, Commanding, 1st Battalion King’s Own Royal Lancaster Regiment, Preston, 16 Feb 1884.
“I certify that:-
Captain A Hunter, 1st Battalion, K O Ryl Lancaster Regiment
is in every respect a thoroughly good regimental officer; that his name has been recorded on the selected list for Staff College since July 1882; I recommend him for employment on the Staff because I believe that his services in that capacity would be creditable to his regiment, and valuable to the services; I know no reason, either moral or physical why my expectation should not be justified.
Captain Hunter is in possession of a First Class Extra Certificate from School of Musketry.
His Service on the Regimental Staff is as follows:-
