1st Battalion, King's Own Royal Regiment in Palestine, 1944


Officers of the 1st Battalion, the former 8th Battalion, King's Own, at Beit Jirja, Palestine, February 1944.
Back row, left to right: Lieutenants Cole, Davis, Johnson, Duckworth, Dallander, Porter, Laborda and Chater.
Middle row, Captains Booker and Brady, Lieutenants Freeman and Thornton, Captains Stewart, Drewery, Rhodes and Cole (Medical Officer).
Seated, Captain Croft, Majors Garnett, Huntingdon and Bunbury, Lieutenant Colonel Sproule, Captain & Adjutant Tanner, Captain Coates (Quartermaster), Majors Stanton and Mills.
Absent were Captain Beresford (Padre), Captains Warren and Martin and Lieutenant Beesley.

Group of soldiers of the 1st Battalion in Palestine in 1944.  Included in the group is Private Robert Huddleston who had served in Malta with the 8th Battalion and later served in Italy with the 1st Battalion.
