The King's Own Royal Lancaster Regiment and it's connection with Dover, Kent.

Return of the 1st Battalion from the Abyssinian Campaign.


Members of the 1st Battalion, King's Own Royal Regiment, on board the troopship HMT Serapis at Dover in June 1868 on their return from the campaign in Abyssinia.

Members of the 1st Battalion, King's Own Royal Regiment are welcomed back by the people of Dover on their return from the campaign in Abyssinia.  The Regimental Band are formed up in white tunics on the dockside.  The ship is HMT Serapis.  The band led the battalion from the Quayside to the Citadel Barracks where the Mayor and Corporation presented an illuminated address to the Regiment.
