Territorial Army Centenary 1908-2008

Lancaster territorial Private Reg Nelson is third from the left in the central Bren Gun Carrier in this picture at the summer camp at Abergavenny in August 1939.  Also in the photograph is Lance Corporal Alfred Hunt who was killed in action in France on 19th May 1940, and Sergeant William Rawcliffe who was awarded the Distinguished Conduct Medal for showing ‘exceptional coolness, leadership and bravery’ during an action at Bourghelles, France, on 27th May 1940.
