Soldiers of the Regiment

Regimental Rolls

Soldiers who served with the King's Own Royal Lancaster Regiment and other regiments, and received their medals from non-King's Own Rolls.

King's Own and Duke of Edinburgh's Rifles (South Africa)

Listing soldiers of the King's Own Royal Lancaster Regiment who received their First World War Stars, British War and Allied Victory Medals from other regiment's rolls.  Showing rank, name, King's Own number, and details of the other units they served with.   Note some soldiers will have their medals named to the King's Own, marked "R. Lanc.R." and others will be named to the other regiment.

 

Captain William Oak Jay - 8 King’s Own also served as Private in Duke of Edinburgh’s Rifles, South African Defence Force To France 20 Apr 1916 Killed in action 25 Apr 1917 commemorated on the Arras Memorial. Son of Charles Alfred and Gertrude Mary Jay of King William’s Town, South Africa. Also served German South West Africa, 1914-15.
