Stained Glass

Whilst the museum's collection does not contain any stained glass there are a number of interesting items worth inclusion on our website.

Below are two photographs of regimental stained glass.

Stained glass medallion, 260mm in diameter.  The photograph, which is in the museum's collection, was sent to the museum by Captain W M Garner who had acquired the item from an antique dealer who had no knowledge of the previous ownership.  No information has been forth coming as to where it originates from, or indeed where it is now.
Accession Number: KO0783/01 (photograph only)

This photograph is of a stained glass window featuring the Regimental Crest of the King's Own and Royal Cypher.  The window was 'found' at St. Martin's College, now the University of Cumbria, and the old Bowerham Barracks.  It was assumed that the window may well have been placed into storage after the barracks was closed and the site converted to the teacher training college in the 1960s.  The window was re-installed in the mid 1990s.
Accession Number: KO2490/303 (photograph only)

Below are some designs for stained glass windows in the Regimental Chapel:

Proposed design for stained glass window in memory of the Colonel of the Regiment, HM King Edward VII.  The design was not used and the wall mounted memorial was used instead.
Accession Number: KO2490/443

Shrigley and Hunt design for Stained Glass Window.
Accession Number: KO1017/083
