bullet‘W Instructions for Churchill I, II, III and IV’ Waterproofing for Churchill Tanks, dated February 1943. Used by Donors father, Mr Fred Hadwin, who lived at 25 Toll Barr Crescent, Scotforth, Lancaster.
Mr Fred Hadwin was in REME - born 6 Nov 1906 in Lindale. Joined Home Guard in Lancaster and then conscripted on 20 May 1943 at Warrington with the number 14608909. Trained at Reigate, Swindonw and Bestwood in the REME he sailed to India and was based in Lucknow attached to 1st Battalion Lancashire Fusiliers. Flew back to the UK in Mar 1946 to be demobilised.

Lance corporal Agamenoon Kaneledis was one of a number of Royal Fusiliers transferred into the King’s Own in around May 1940. Lance corporal Kaneledis left the King’s Own on 14 Mar 1942 to the OCTU/CA TC.

bulletField Service Pocket Book, 1914, named to Lieutenant William Sidney Shears, 3rd King’s Own Royal Lancaster Regiment.
Lieutenant Shears was commissioned in to the 3rd Battalion as 2nd Lieutenant on 7 May 1915. He was promoted Lieutenant on 1 Jul 1917. He served with the 1st Battalion Nov 1915 to July 1916. He was with the Labour Corps from Jul 1917 to Nov 1918. Attached to War Office from Apr 1919 to 1920. In the Second World War he was commissioned in to the Royal Engineers as 2nd Lieutenant on 3 Sep 1939 and was War Substantive Captain and Temporary Major from 27 Dec 1939. He died in Oct 1976.
