Gorget of the King's Own Royal Regiment, 1745.
The label attached to the rear states: "Worn by my great-great
grandfather, Lieutenant Brereton Cholmondeley of the 4th Foot, 1745.
Cholmondeley joined the King's Own as an Ensign on 1st May 1745 and
transferred to the 1st Foot Guards on 26th August 1747. He was
present at the Battle of Culloden.

Officers’ silver gorget c 1790, double-bevelled, the
design comprising the Lion with a laurel wreath above the Royal coat
of arms, below which is engraved "IVth or King's Own". Stated
to have been worn by Captain John Thomas Maddison. Maddison
was born in 1759, son of George Maddison of the Regiment.
He was Ensign on 26th February 1773, at Lexington and Bunkers Hill.
Lieutenant 16th December 1775. In attack on Long Island,
Captures of New York and Fort Washington. Wounded at
Brandywine. Captain-Lieutenant 25th February 1781, Captain
1783 and left in 1785. Retired as a Colonel, but not in the
Regiment.

object was donated to the Officers at the Regimental Depot,
Lancaster.

Officers' silver gorget circa 1790, the design
comprising a crown above the cypher 'GR' with laurel sprays on both
sides, below which are the letters K and O bisected by the number
"4" within a wreath. This gorget was in the possession of a J
M Milne Esq in the 1900s and he presented it to the Officers at the
Regimental Depot in 1929.
