Soldiers of the Regiment

Colour Sergeant D L Jones

Colour Sergeant D L Jones, 3651336, was later to receive the Long Service and Good Conduct Medal in 1948


2nd Battalion, King’s Own Royal Regiment in Palestine, 1938-39. Believed to be Private D L Jones, number 3651336, 2nd Battalion, King’s Own, and a village chief sat on a rail car which travelled in the front of trains so as to discourage terrorists to mine the railway line.
The photograph is marked Quarter Master Sergeant D L Jones, number 635156, which is believed to be incorrect. Colour Sergeant D L Jones, 3651336, was later to receive the Long Service and Good Conduct Medal in 1948.
