The word ‘Belgique’ is written on the top of the envelope, it is believed a stamp collector used these envelopes to store various stamps. Other covers had various countries written on in pencil.

The rear of the cover is embossed with “A Ross & Co Ltd, Grange Mills, Bermondsey, London”
No direct trace of “A Ross & Co Ltd” has been found, but Barrow, Hepburn and Gale, of the same address had a telegram address of ‘Rossoc’. The firm was involved in tanning and in 1929 were listed as supplying both leather and web military equipment.
