Soldiers of the Regiment Colour Sergeant John Billingham The museum's collection contains a framed Mirror trophy to Colour Sergeant John Billingham. “4th King’s Own, Conway Camp, June 1906. Won by Colour Sergeant J Billingham. This Glass Presented to him by Sergeant Hollingworth” Colour Sergeant John Billingham was a regular soldier with the Regiment, and was posted as an instructor to the 4th Battalion. John Billingham enlisted on 21st March 1888 and served at Home until
29th April 1896 when he was posted to Malta and the Hong Kong with the
1st Battalion of the King's Own. He returned home with the 1st
Battalion on 22nd April 1899 and had home service until 25th January
1900 when he was sent to South Africa where he served until July 1901.
He served from 11th July 1901 to 18th March 1909 at home until his
discharge on that same date.
