Lance Corporal Herbert Dunkley

Lance corporal Herbert Dunkley, number 7877, 1st Battalion, King’s Own.  Herbert Dunkley enlisted on 10th August 1903 and joined the Army Reserve after a couple of years service.  He was mobilised on the outbreak of the First World War and went overseas to France with the 1st Battalion on 23rd August 1914.

Enlisted at Birmingham 10 Aug 1903. Shown as 2nd King’s Own, Aug 1905 when awarded First Good Conduct Badge; overseas with 1st King’s Own, 23 Aug 1914.  Note the Mounted Infantry qualification.
