Soldiers of the Regiment

Private Arthur Dalziel, 2nd and 1st King's Own.




Postcard from Private Arthur Dalziel to his mother, April 1912.
The photograph is taken at Dover and is men of the 2nd Battalion, King's Own Royal Lancaster Regiment, in April 1912.  Private Arthur Dalziel is not identified in the photograph. 
Private Arthur Dalziel enlisted into the King's Own and served with the 2nd Battalion, he is recorded as being with them in August 1911 when he was awarded the Third Class Certificate of Education.  He must have transferred to the 1st Battalion and remained in Dover, rather than going out to India with the 2nd Battalion.  He went overseas to France on 23rd August 1914.  He was killed in action on 6th February 1915.  He is buried in Strand Military Cemetery, Belgium.  His next of kin is shown as the late Mr James Dalziel and Mrs Sarah Dalziel of 63 Clifton Street, Old Trafford, Manchester.
