Joe Hodgson was for many years a keen enthusiast of military history, some of his collection related to the King's Own Royal Regiment

Letter issued with Silver War Badge to Private William Wassall, number 22566, of the King's Own Royal Lancaster Regiment. He enlisted on 24th July 1915 and joined the 11th Battalion of the King's Own.  Private Wassall went overseas with the battalion on 3rd June 1915 and was discharged due to wounds on 31st August 1917.  Joe's records show that he later re-enlisted into the 2nd/9th Battalion of the Manchester Regiment with the new number 3516422 and he was later awarded the Territorial Efficiency Medal.
