Soldiers of the Regiment Private Harold Clarkson Private Harold Clarkson, number 17017, volunteered for war service after the outbreak of the First World War. He was posted overseas to the 2nd Battalion, King's Own, on 28th April 1915. He was with the battalion at the Battle of Frezenberg where he was taken prisoner on 8th May 1915. He was a prisoner of war until repatriated at the end of 1918. He was discharged from the army on 26th May 1919.
Note the unusual markings on his shoulder title, which appear to be the number "2" and "KORL" or similar.
