Album of postcards sent home by James Linsday Greenwood.
Type written on the inside front cover: “James Lindsay Greenwood was born in Bolton, Lancashire, England in 1886. He married Jane Cowan Greenwood on 26 Oct 1907. James and Jane had one daughter, Mary, born in 1912. James came to Canada in 1913 and his wife and baby daughter Mary Greenwood followed in Jul 1914. In Aug 1914 James who was in the Army Reserve was called up to serve in the army and was sent to France. During his time in France he sent these postcards to his wife and baby daughter back in Canada. James Greenwood was killed in the trenches in France in 1916. His wife Jane Greenwood lovingly kept the cards in the enclosed album which has been treasurer possession of their only daughter Mary. Mary Greenwood has lived most of her life in Sarnia, Canada, and has donated the album for safe keeping to the military museum (Nov 2003).” (Believed to be the Canadian War Museum, but as Greenwood was a British soldier they declined.)
The cards have been removed, accessioned separately and stored separately for their long term preservation. They are recorded in the order in which they appeared in the album.
