Soldiers of the Regiment Private Frederick Baker Private Frederick Baker, number 1840, later 200171 of the 1st/4th King’s Own. He was born in Millom and lived at Sea View, Haverigg, Millom and worked as a miner. He enlisted on 18 Mar 1913 at the age of 18 years. He was present at the 1913 annual camp. He was embodied for service on 5 Aug 1914 and went to France and Flanders on 3 May 1915. He was wounded and returned to the UK on 5 Oct 1915 and was discharged on 31 Aug 1917. He received the1914-15 Star, British War and Allied Victory Medals and whilst he qualified for the Silver War Badge he does not appear on the roll.
