Soldiers of the Regiment Captain Harold Chapman Captain Harold Chapman, original enlisted in to the 5th Battalion in early September 1914, probably as one of the 'Gallant 200' and received the number 2045 which in 1917 was changed to 240473. He went overseas with the 1st/5th King’s Own Royal Lancaster Regiment on 14th February 1915. He was wounded on 14th April 1915. He was then transferred to the 2nd/5th Battalion of the King’s Own and was commissioned on 1st March 1917 as a 2nd Lieutenant. He was promoted Lieutenant on 1st September 1918 and later Captain. He is shown as being with the 3rd/5th Battalion of the King's Own Royal Lancaster Regiment from May 1917 but he did go back to France and Flanders and again served with the 2nd/5th Battalion, King’ Own.
