Soldiers of the Regiment

Private William Gate

Private William Gate, number 32522, served with the King's Own Royal Lancaster Regiment and later with the North Staffordshire Regiment as number 41673, in the First World War and was presented with this silver teapot by his home village on this return.

 


Photograph of silver teapot presented to Private William Gate, number 32522, of the King’s Own from the village of Holme Cultram Abbey near Abbeytown, to the West of Carlisle. The tea pot was presented to him by the village on his return from war. Enlisted by conscription in 1917 and wounded in France and taken prisoner of war in 1918. Tea pot still owned by the family.
