Soldiers of the Regiment

Sergeant James Musgrave Cross DCM

Sergeant James Musgrave Cross DCM, number 202738, 1st/4th Battalion King’s Own Royal Lancaster Regiment.  Awarded the Distinguished Conduct Medal:
“For conspicuous gallantry and devotion to duty in attacking single handed an enemy strong point and capturing it, together with five prisoners.  On reaching the objective, when all his officers had become casualties, he took charge and carried on with great energy and skill, collecting stragglers from other units and covering the retirement of the battalion on his flank.”
London Gazette 22nd October 1917 and 26th January 1918.



Distinguished Conduct Medal, British War Medal and Allied Victory Medals (the latter two with the incorrect ribbons) to Sergeant Cross, DCM, number 202738, of the 1st/4th Battalion, King's Own Royal Lancaster Regiment.
