He was attached to the 6th Battalion of the King's Own Yorkshire Light Infantry and then later served with the Machine Gun Corps as a Lieutenant. It would appear he returned to the King's Own and joined the 5th Battalion from the Machine Gun Corps on 24th March 1921. He resigned his commission in 1922.
