Adjutant 1st King’s Own, 7 Oct 1897 to 11 Aug 1902, and therefore unable to serve in South Africa. Retired 1907. Lieutenant Colonel Special Reserve, Temporary Brigadier General 1915, Honorary Brigadier General 13 Jul 1927.
