Soldiers of the Regiment

Private James Connor Gill

 

Private James Connor Gill, number 2114, later 240511, of the 1st/5th Battalion, King’s Own Royal Lancaster Regiment.  Private Gill also served with the 2nd/5th Battalion.  His number would suggest he was a "Lancaster Pal" enlisting in the first few days of September 1914 in order to replace men too old or unfit for over seas service.


Active Service Testament, 1914. Includes message from Lord Roberts, 25 Aug 1914.
Used by Private James Connor Gill, number 2114, later 240511 of the 1st/5th Battalion King’s Own Royal Lancaster Regiment, and later 2nd/5th Battalion.
