Soldiers of the Regiment Private James Connor Gill
Private James Connor Gill, number 2114, later 240511, of the 1st/5th Battalion, King’s Own Royal Lancaster Regiment. Private Gill also served with the 2nd/5th Battalion. His number would suggest he was a "Lancaster Pal" enlisting in the first few days of September 1914 in order to replace men too old or unfit for over seas service.
