Military Medal for Lancaster Soldier

The Mayor of Lancaster, Councillor William Briggs, J P, this morning presented the Military Medal to Private William Procter Parr, 2nd/5th King’s Own Royal Lancaster Regiment, (stepson of Mr Samuel Taylor, Church Street), for gaining valuable information and encouraging initiative in his patrol at Passchendale, Nov 1917. His Worship, after pinning on the medal, said it afforded him great pleasure to present the medal to one of their local battalion, and hoped he would live long to wear the well-deserved honour.
