Private Wilfred Brash

 

Letter from Private Wilfred Brash, number 2041, 5th Battalion King’s Own Royal Lancaster Regiment. From Didcot 1914 – Written to donor, Wilfred Speight, as a boy, by his former teacher at the Boys National School.
Wilfred Brash went overseas on 14 Feb 1915 and was commissioned on 15 Jul 1916. He was killed in action on 9 Mar 1917 by a sniper, in a crater, when acting as Battalion Intelligence Officer. He is buried in Vlamertinghe Military Cemetery. His next of kin is listed as M L Brash of 21 Portland Street, Lancaster.
