Soldiers of the Regiment

The Williams Boys

The Williams Boys were the sons of former Quarter Master Sergeant Ellis Williams of the King's Own Royal Lancaster Regiment.  All served during the First World War.  An album of letters, cards and photographs survives in the museum's collection covering the communication within the family.

bulletSergeant John 'Jack' Henry Williams, number 7899, 1st Battalion, King's Own Royal Lancaster Regiment, taken prisoner of war on 26th August 1914 at Le Cateau.
bulletCorporal Herbert 'Bert' Charles Williams, number 10080, 2nd Battalion, King's Own Royal Lancaster Regiment.  Died of wounds 23rd March 1915.
bulletStaff Sergeant Lloyd Williams, number 10480, 2nd Battalion, King's Own Royal Lancaster Regiment.  Drowned when the boat he was travelling on was sunk during a hurricane on the River Nile, 29th May 1917.
bulletPrivate Reginald Williams, number 51616, 17th Battalion, King's Liverpool Regiment. killed in action 12th October 1916.
bulletPrivate Percy Williams, Army Service Corps.
