Soldiers of the Regiment

Company Sergeant Major Victor Batty DCM

Company Sergeant Major Victor Batty, number 5824, was awarded the Distinguished Conduct Medal in 1915:  “For conspicuous courage and resource displayed on 17 Feb 1915, when, after his Company Officer had been wounded, he took command of the platoon and handled it with great coolness.”  London Gazette 30th June 1915.


Company Sergeant Major Victor Batty DCM, number 5824, 2nd King’s Own, but also served in 1st King’s Own.  He is photographed with the Distinguished Conduct Medal, Queen's South Africa Medal and the Cross of the Order of St. George, Third Class, which he was awarded in 1915.  He was later awarded the Long Service and Good Conduct Medal as well as First World War campaign medals.
