Farewells and Welcomes in Lancaster

Both the Volunteer and Militia Battalions of the King's Own Royal Lancaster Regiment had farewells and welcomes home from the people of Lancaster with events in Market Square.


The Mayor of Lancaster, Alderman Preston, receiving the Colours of the 3rd (Militia) Battalion of the King’s Own Lancaster Regiment prior to their departure for South Africa, 8th February 1900.  The Colours was kept in the Town Hall, then located in Market Square, and now the museum, until the Battalion returned.
