Battalion, King's Own Royal Lancaster Regiment at Lydd 1913-1914
Although based at Dover, the 1st Battalion, King's Own spent some time
at Lydd. The regimental journal, The Lion and The Rose, reports
"The month of May 1913 was spent at Lydd. The battalion went there
by route march, doing the 27 miles in two days, and halting at
Shorncliffe for the night. The battalion was primarily engaged in
musketry, but found time for a few sporting activities."
