The Mayor of Lancaster, Cllr Abbot Bryning, presents new Colour Belts to Major Christopher Warren, of the King's Own Royal Border Regiment, 1980.
Both the City of Lancaster and City of Carlisle presented Colour Belts to the 1st and 4th Battalions of the King's Own Royal Border Regiment to mark the presentation of new Colours to the Regiment in July 1980.  The Colour Belt on the left, held by the Mayor, was presented to the 1st Battalion, the Colour Belt on the left was presented to the 4th Battalion.  Appleby in Westmorland, a town of which the King's Own Royal Border Regiment also held the Freedom, presented the 1st Battalion's Drum Major with a sash.
Major Warren was Tercentenary/New Colours Planning Officer at the time.
The silver lion on the table is from the Militia Battalions' commemorative piece for the South African War 1899-1902 and is now on display in the King's Own Museum.
