King’s Own Royal Regiment Platoon, Number 5218 Group, after six weeks basic training, carried out at Fulwood Barracks, Preston, by the East Lancashire Regiment Non-Commissioned Officers, prior to joining up with the King’s Own Royal Regiment at Bowerham Barracks and then onwards to Germany, 1952.

Group of officers and soldiers of the King's Own Royal Regiment who took part in the 1953 Coronation of HM Queen Elizabeth II in July 1953.  The officer fifth from the left in the front seated row is Major Donald Long MC.  Fifth from the left on the rear row is Private Leonard Knowles of the 5th Battalion, King's Own Royal Regiment.
