Ceremony of Beating the Retreat at Ryelands Park, Lancaster.  This grand spectacle was the climax of a series of events as a farewell to the 1st Battalion, King's Own Royal Regiment, before their amalgamation with the Border Regiment.  The photograph shows the massed bands and corps of drums of the 1st and 5th (TA) Battalions, of the King's Own Royal Regiment.
