Funeral of unidentified soldier of 1st Battalion, King’s Own, in Cairo, Egypt, 1934. ‘Floral tributes’
Three soldiers are known to have died at around this time:
Funeral of Private Robert Chrystal, number 3852802, HQ Wing, 1st Battalion King’s Own Royal Regiment, Lancaster. Died in the Citadel Military Hospital, Cairo, Egypt, 24 Jun 1934, age 24 years. Although it is unlikely it is this soldier, as other photos of the funeral exist and they do not appear to match up – ko2802-03 & ko1972/36-39
Private Charles Robert Henry Harvey, number 3708761, S Company, 1st Battalion, King’s Own, died at Citadel Military Hospital, Cairo, 6 Jul 1934
Private David Rutherford, number 3709331, C Company, 1st Battalion, King’s Own, died at Abbassia, Egypt, 12 Jul 1934.
