2nd Battalion King’s Own Royal Lancaster Regiment, Regimental Silver laid out in the Officers’ Mess at Whittington Barracks, Lichfield, January 1899. In the centre is ‘Hebe’ the centrepiece, purchased circa 1873. The figure depicting the Greek Goddess ‘Hebe’ carrying a wine flagon, was made circa 1837 in the workshops of London silversmith Paul Storr. The sideboard had been presented by a former commanding officer, Colonel O R Middleton, at Bombay in 1885.
