Colonels of the King's Own Royal Regiment

Lieutenant General William Seymour

2nd Son of Sir Edward Seymour Bt. of Berry Pomeroy, Devon. 2nd Lieutenant in Lord Dartmouth’s Company of Royal Fusiliers (7th) 11 June 1685. Captain 1 May 1686. Major and Lieutenant Colonel Coldstream Guards 1 January 1692. Regimental Lieutenant Colonel in same 10 August 1692. Wounded at Landen 1693. Colonel of Lord Kut’s Regiment of Foot till disbanded at Peace of Ryswick. Colonel of 24th Foot 1 March 1701. Colonel of the Queen’s Own Regiment of Foot 12 February 1702.
Brigadier General in supreme command of the six Regiments of Marines 9 May 1702. Wounded at Vigo. Major General 1 January 1704. Lieutenant General 1 January 1707. Retired in December 1717. Died 9 February 1727.
