Lieutenant 3rd Battalion, 28 November 1913. Attached to the 1st Battalion on Mobilisation. Regular commission 2nd Lieutenant 1 September 1914. Lieutenant 18 February 1915. Temporary Captain 3 December 1915 to 13 March 1916 and 17 June 1916 to 30 June 1916. Captain 13 July 1917. With Egyptian Army 23 June 1917. Staff Captain Defence Force 23 June 1921 to 7 July 1921. Adjutant 4th Battalion 22 March 1924 to 1928. Major 7 September 1933.
Commanding Regimental Depot, 1936 to February 1939. 1st Battalion March 1939 to July 1939. Commanded 2nd Battalion August 1939 to April 1941. Promoted Colonel, and Second in Command of the island of Cyprus, April 1941. Commanded Libyan Arab Force July 1941 to August 1942, when he took over command of the Nile Valley Area. Commanded Iraqi Levies in ‘Paiforce’ and promoted Brigadier, October 1942. Commanded Mersey Defences and Mersey Sub-District February 1944 to November 1946. Retired February 1947. Appointed Colonel of the Regiment, August 1947.
