5th Battalion, King's Own Royal Regiment, Certificate of Service

A Battalion specific Certificate of Service presented to members of the 5th Battalion, King's Own Royal Regiment, Lancaster, in the 1920s and 1930s.


5th Battalion Certificate to Private William Thomas Broadley, number 3701740, of the 5th Battalion, King's Own Royal Regiment.

Private D Bray, number 3710243, 5th Battalion, King's Own Royal Regiment, Lancaster.

Private William Thomas Broadley, number 3701740, 5th Battalion, King's Own Royal Regiment.  Private Broadley was awarded the Long Service and Good Conduct Medal in 1932 and was discharged from regular service in 1936 after 21 years service.  He joined the 5th Battalion and was serving at the Regimental Depot at Bowerham Barracks during the Second World War.  He died on 27th July 1944 and is buried in Scotforth Cemetery, Lancaster.

Commemorative Certificate of Membership for a soldier of the 5th Battalion, King’s Own Royal Regiment, named to Company Sergeant Major W Clement, number 3707732, although this may be over-writing the same or different wording which may well have faded.
CQMS W Clement, number 3707732, is shown in the Second World War comforts cards as serving with the King’s Own and 30th Manchester Regiment and living at 11 Friar Street, Lancaster.
