The Great War Centenary 1917 - Exhibition

Boomtown - From Front Line to White Lund

King’s Own Battalions at Home, 1917

A number of King’s Own battalions remained at home during the war, and throughout 1917 they continued to train men who were sent in drafts to support those battalions of the King’s Own, and other units, maintain their strength on the front line. The Depot remained in Lancaster, and the 3rd Battalion moved from Plymouth to Dovercourt near Harwich. The Territorial Reserve battalions, comprising the 2nd/4th, 3rd/4th and 3rd/5th Battalions were located in Oswestry in Shropshire.
