141 Days: The Battle of the Somme

Spectrum Trench, October 1916

For the first time since early July, the 1st Battalion was heading into action. It had taken more than three months to build it back up to strength. The battalion successful took “Spectrum Trench” at Les Boeuffs, but with considerable losses some 284 men became casualties.
